It's an M1911 A1 type frame (cut outs by the trigger area) but the serial number is"No. 4xxxxx" which is an M1911 serial number. The nomenclature on the frame indicates it's an M1911A1. You'll have to call Colt to get a production date. The public serial number lists end in 1985. The last Government serial number range shown then was "FG". Call during normal business hours, they'll only give you a production year, no other info on the phone.Colt's website now has a serial number look up, however when I put in the numbers on my Sporter Match HBAR and my Government model both came up "not in data base". I just called Colt's CS and they were able to give me DOM on both guns. FWI, MH 0039xx is 1990 and GS 0068xx is 1989. The GOVT is a green label gun with the evil ….
